Hydrometeorology studies the transfer of water and energy between the levels of the surface of the Earth along with the lower atmosphere. Such hydrothermal processes can lead to the occurrence of phenomena such as tropical cyclones, floods, desertification and drought. A major focus in hydrometeorology is determining the association between meteorological variables and precipitation. Such analyses serve as the foundation for the design of structures such as dams and reservoirs for flood control or water-usage. Other major concerns include determining the spatial and temporal distribution of rainfall, recurrence interval of storms, snowmelt and runoff, etc. The prediction of the effects of abnormal precipitation events and the development of mitigation strategies to cause less damage are also of interest in this field. The book aims to shed light on some of the unexplored aspects of hydrometeorology and the recent researches in this field. The objective of this book is to give a general view of the different areas of this field and their scope and applications. It aims to equip students and experts with the advanced topics and upcoming concepts in this area.
