When the members of Vega finally agree to drop the no-dating rule, Marie thinks her dreams have finally come true. She and Tommy begin to plan their fairytale wedding, and Marie allows herself to believe that everything is finally working out for her. Adding to Marie's new bliss, her niece Gabby arrives in New York with her band, ready and eager to follow in her aunt's footsteps. Marie is there to guide her niece as her band records their debut album and opens for Vega's next tour. Soon Gabby falls into all of the traps of the music industry that Marie managed to avoid. Now it is up Marie to pick up the pieces of her niece's shattered life with the will and determination that comes only from the love of family. Yet, in spite of this glaring challenge, a more subtle one creeps up on them. As the Eighties gives way to the Nineties, Vega's star begins to set.
