The stories that comprise Snapshots are only a portion of several hundred that have been generated over the past years. Their genesis began with the formation of the Grand River Historical Society in 2007. The purpose of the organization was to promote the history of the region encompassing the Cherokee Nation. Typically, histories capture major events, the settlement of the region, or in this instance development of the Cherokee Nation including occurrences during the Civil War and the horrendous aftermath. The random articles presented in this edition are an effort to acquaint the reader with eclectic situations, the daily struggles of families, founding of towns and communities as well as everyday life in the 19th century.
