The Giving Stump is a (grueling) fictional story that brings radical clarity into some of the most elusive, perplexing, and crazy-making relationship issues. This book is a branch-off of Shel Silverstein's beloved classic, The Giving Tree. The Giving Stump begins with a poignant but goofy story about Boy (a grown man) and Stump (his "beloved" tree stump). Peppered with humor, the story takes readers into the heart of covert mental abuse where they witness Stump's enigmatic and systematic demise - at the hands of her grumpy ol' "soulmate." Stump's unhealthy emotional attachments, feeble excuses, and undying allegiance to her abuser exist right alongside her delusional fantasies of creating a golden future with him. (Sound familiar?)
