The Ghosts We Know
There were no shrieks of joy. The swings hung still. There were no kids plunging down the twisty slide or riding the springy horse. The playground at the heart of Sunny Slope was strangely deserted as aging war veterans Harry Bolden and Friedrich Von Stiller desperately searched for answers. Fear was stampeding through the neighborhood in Two Rivers, Oregon. One boy was missing and presumed dead; another had taken his own life. Bolden's own grandson could be next.
Ghosts is the story of how two very different men - a former cop who flew combat missions in the belly of a B-29, and a once-promising composer who fought the Allies as a German infantryman - came to be the closest of friends in a small Oregon town.
Hoping to end the panic tearing apart their town, they team up to track down a child predator. At the same time, each must face his own demons.
