Peter Daniels, a talented pianist, finds happiness working in Paris, where he happens upon the unknown music of a dead man, and uses it to become rich. Marie and Jean-Paul befriend him, help him find work but outside forces pursue them and destroy their relationship. Desperate to put it all behind him he runs away, back to a life with Hannah, his student girlfriend.. But the music acts as a conduit to the past and try as he might, he cannot escape. As he learns that events control our lives, and suspicions pervert them he worries that his past destroy him before he can prove to himself his real worth as a musician?
