How would your life change if you left behind everything that you knew? For Elisa of Seteganti, this is no longer a question, it's a fact of life. For anyone, leaving home is a harrowing experience, but for Elisa, a 14 year old from a reservation deep in the heart of Panama, it's much more than that; it's an opportunity to educate herself, an opportunity to rise above the poverty line that is so common in the place that she grew up, and an opportunity to live in the shining promise land that is Panama City and finally follow her dreams. However, as she soon learns, Panama City is not always the land of milk and honey that the people of her village make it out to be, and after facing many obstacles, she both gains and loses something of incomprehensible value; something that makes her reevaluate her entire life up until this point.
