The Lord's Prayer in Aramaic: Language & Meaning 2 New edition
B A Colleen Kite
The Lord's Prayer was originally said in Aramaic, the Galilean dialect of Yeshua. This book - the first in the series - aims to explain the Aramaic alphabet and basic grammar while enabling a personal translation and interpretation of the prayer which is central to the Christian life. Several chapters include examples to support the primacy of Aramaic as the original language for parts of the New Testament. A text in Aramaic from Palmyra exists on a tombstone on Hadrian's Wall, England and this is included to illustrate the geographical extent that this language with its many dialects achieved. A musical interpretation of the Aboun is included in western musical notation. The Jewish origins of the prayer are considered in this second edition.
