The Rainbow Planet

The author of this book has set herself no mean task, that of proving the ongoing need of contemporary man for "valid myth" and the "stored wisdom of the past". The book is intended as an enjoyable voyage of discovery for the reader and with this aim in view, the first part comprises three easily interpreted stories which draw on ancient and modem myths and tales for their themes. In the second part of the book, the author traces the ancestry and scope of these stories. Indeed, she systematically examines the underlying inspiration of a wide body of literature from the science fiction works of HG Wells to the fantasy novels of Tolkien and the religious writings of CS Lewis. To further promote her argument, the author explores the world of subatomic particles and energy fields in relation to the human situation. It is thus from very different literary, scientific and philosophical perspectives that we are so convincingly shown how myths and folktales can lead us to love divine and spiritual things and to find our own "inner stillness". This is both a fascinating and thought-provoking study that provides an amazing insight into a realm of thought that we should no doubt enter more frequently.
