Don't Stand So Close to Me
Claire Christie
A story resurrected from the early 1980s following the forbidden love affair between a sixteen year old girl and her twenty four year old chemistry teacher. It is written through the eyes of Claire, a typically ordinary schoolgirl whose life becomes a bit more interesting when a knight; in the form of tutor Michael Andrews rescues her from the clutches of her bullying ex-boyfriend. This action sets off a chain of events that lead to a love affair and a journey where self-discovery, infatuation, passion, and laughter set to destroy not only Claire's aspirations and dreams but Michael's career too. The second part of the book runs parallel to the first and is necessary, if only to gain a more mature, wider interpretation than that of a sixteen year old girl. Written largely from Michael's perspective, it explains and describes the real obsessive relationship that the initial story did not.
