Captain Peter Vass returns to Budapest in 1946 aboard a prisoner of war train from Russia. The unemployment is rife in Hungary. He and his family decide to escape to Austria. Their perilous trek is dangerous. They are captured at the border, but they escape. Because they have left their little children in Hungary with the grandparents, Peter returns for them. Having escaped many hazards, he succeeds to bring them back to Austria. They are accepted as immigrants to Australia. Peter through hard work and determination, becomes a very successful real estate agent. Eventually retires on a large farm with Ilona, his wife. They are very content with life and bless Australia.
