Humility

In the life of Jesus we have the perfect model of humility and surrender of the self so that God may be glorified. Understand the roots of pride and the one possible means of redemption from it. Study the examples of the disciples and of Paul. Pastor Murray includes in his book a call for church leaders to live humility in their personal lives. It's difficult to humble ourselves to anyone. We want to appear to have it all together, to be in charge, strong and fearless when in fact we know we are far from it. And as backward and illogical it sounds showing humility strengthens us especially when we admit to God we are weak and need His help. "Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." (James 4:10) "By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honor, and life." (Proverbs 22:4) Humble dependence on God is the basis of genuine blessing and In Humility Andrew Murray gives us a path to follow to gain through our own humility. Andrew Murray was a South African writer, teacher, and Christian pastor. Murray considered missions to be "the chief end of the church." He was one of the founders of the South African General Mission (SAGM) later becoming the Africa Evangelical Fellowship (AEF) in 1965.
