Journey to Wisconsin African American Life in Haiku

Journey to Wisconsin: African American Life in Haiku is a book of poetry that celebrates African American history, culture and literature by focusing on little known facts about the African American presence in Wisconsin. Narrative poetry is utilized in the opening poesm to give a glimpseof Nathaniel and Cynthia Owen, married African American settlers in 1800's Wisconsin. The rest of the book which focuses on the movement of free people from Africa to enslaved in America and finally free again in Wisconsin, is written in Haiku.
