Our hero, Duffy, has returned to Philadelphia from his European vacation with Anne. No sooner does he sits at his desk at the Tribune when he is called up from the police reserves and is again knee-deep in the murders of the newest serial killer. When that killer is found dead, he thinks that is the end of his time in the PPD. But, it is not, and he is dragged into more murders with his partner, Wojack. The murders run the gamete from sexual sadists to international mass murderers, and they are expected to solve them all. And, his personal life is in for a change to, he moves in with Anne in her luxury condo and becomes more involved with the wealthy Keane family. Along the way, he
learns some of their secrets.
