Lucky just hatched out of his egg in a barn in the foothills of Tennessee. At the beginning of his life, Lucky learns to stay close to his mother who protects him and his other siblings. A creature that carries a dreadful smell comes into the barn at night and terrorizes Lucky and the other chickens. As he grows up, Lucky earns his name by surviving a thunderstorm. A duckling named Lonesome George arrives on the farm and the farmer's wife decides to raise George alongside Lucky. The two become best friends despite being different birds. This story teaches children to love and accept the diverse world we live in.
