The Road Trip

Two old friends reconnect when they find themselves in the same South Texas senior community, but one of them is not comfortable with the new living arrangement. To dispel the feeling that she has lost her independence, Evelyn "Mert" Rollins embarks on a road trip to Indiana to attend to some pending family business, accompanied by her buddy Maria "Mari" Escobedo. They drive and eat their way through five states, thoroughly enjoying the kitsch and Americana that they encounter along the way. Landing finally on the picturesque shores of Palestine Lake, they sample all that the laid-back rural life has to offer. However, they don't take long to realize that they're destined to experience much more than the gooseberry pie and watermelon rind pickles that they happen upon at the county fair - much more. Wherever there are people, there are secrets, some of which can lie dormant for decades before morphing into something deadly.
