The American Casting Couch

The American Casting Couch is more than just a title of this book, but an accurate description of "relations" in America. In this case the emphasis is on male-female relations and how men use the power they have to seduce and otherwise sexually malign females. But the attitude behind the act has other applications which is one reason I know what this society is going to do to Harvey Weinstein, the Hollywood mogul exposed in October 2017 of harassing scores of women and even raping a few of them. This is the same type of trick that is now being used after Harvey Weinstein has been "exposed." Exposed after everyone in Hollywood knew what was taking place. Just like with the white supremacists: white folks knew black people were being enslaved, lynched and raped and their silence gave their consent. Not only that, but the system that was constructed as a result of black degradation, enslavement and exploitation is one that most whites benefit from to this very day. So on some level, all of them are beneficiaries of white supremacy. And to accept the benefit is the give your endorsement. Sexual misconduct, harassment and rape work in a similar way. Men have been taking advantage of women for centuries. It's a cultural universal and even the so-called Bible is filled with sexist bullshit. Be that as it may, Weinstein is being used as the scapegoat to pay for all the "sins" of a system of female denial and degradation that is based on "tradition, reason, and acceptance" (Karenga, 1967). All men are in on it on some level. Women have been accepting it claiming that there was nothing they could do. In the case of white women, their situation is different in my view: this was their man committing these atrocities. Many of the men committing these acts were married to white women who had to know what their man was capable of. Just like Hillary knew about the kind of man her husband (President) Bill Clinton was, just the wives of Roger Ailes (CEO of Fox News, who was married three times) and Bill O'Reilly, who was married 14 years before divorcing. These white women knew and kept quiet just like the wife and children of Bernie Madoff clammed up and acted as if they didn't know that Madoff had stolen over 50 billion dollars! The American power structure has a long history in the area of "diversion." And black people and other people in this country are so entranced by the media's manipulated manifestations of reality that they refuse to see what is taking place. To personalize an issue ("he did it!") that is centuries old, universal and obvious to the naked eye does the victims of that issue a disservice. The four essays that follow address sexual abuse, harassment, stereotypes, values and beliefs in divergent ways. The first essay, "The Casting Couch, sexual Abuse and the Quest for Power" provides some background and some case studies of how Hollywood has functioned long before Harvey Weinstein got busted in October of 2017. The section also offers that along with sexual harassment, these Hollywood hucksters were also pedophiles in many instances. The second essay, "Assault and Peppered," provides views on "sexual assault" and the social psychology of same. "Never Hit a Woman" is the third essay, and it is an argument against the gender biased belief that men should never hit women. No human being should ever hit another human being without expecting to get hit back, Fourth and finally, "How Women Get Laid and Paid." Of what good would a book about sexual misconduct and abuse be if somebody didn't tell the truth about the kind of Pimp-Prostitute relationships that Americans have been duped into referring to as "courting," "dating" or "hooking up"? This will be established throughout this book.
