A troubled twenty-year-old man, who spent the first 14 years of his life in and out of juvenile halls and foster care homes, attempts to kill one of his foster parents with a screwdriver. After claiming the tool flew through the air on its own, he was diagnosed as schizophrenic and spends the next 6 years in a psychiatric hospital. After an encounter with a new patient, not only is he faced with the possibility that the voices he hears and the visions he sees could be real, but he may have special inherited abilities from his biological parents, who they themselves may be extraterrestrial beings harboring a deadly secret.
