The Legacy

Tragedy was no stranger to Governor Amy Brocklin. The amount of tragedy she had experienced thus far in her life that left her almost numb to it. It also left her with a tendency to expect the worst from any situation. Her family tree was deeply rooted in the tumultuous sea of American politics with branches spreading out in all directions. Dead branches. First her beloved grandfather, then her father and most recently her husband, all victims of an assassin's bullet delivered on the eve of their political rise. They were victims of their impetuous drive for success and power, a drive Amy herself shared. Her ambitions propelled her to the governorship of Michigan and her sights were set much higher. With her family's history cemented in her psyche she now teeters on the brink of a decision that could cost her life, or worse. What price was she willing to pay to fulfill her family's legacy?
