Why Armenia Should Be Free
G (Garegin) Pasdermadjian
Originally published in 1918, Why Armenia Should Be Free is a narrative account of the author. The book shows with most authentic facts, the fulfillment of the Armenian country of her duty to the allied cause in full measure, and suffered untold sacrifices in the fight for freedom. It contains a record of history during the first world war, specifically, the confrontation between the Ottoman empire and the Russian empire in the Caucasus and Persian campaigns. Armenian intellectuals were arrested by the Ottoman authorities and, with the Tehcir Law, eventually, a large portion of Armenians living in Anatolia perished in what has become known as the Armenian Genocide.
