Silence

Alison Fate is a twenty-eight-year-old woman, who lives in Palatial Apartments in Norwich with her boyfriend, Charlie. She works in a local coffee shop, and has done for the last five or so years. One day at work, she meets a man who explains to her that the "real world," that we all think we live in has actually been abandoned and is now almost completely bereft of anyone, aside from a few people like him, who wear these rings which, upon putting them on, allow you to live in the "real world," as a real person. Everyone else, by contrast, is nothing but collections of mist and fog. Alison subsequently agrees to become a "member," and proceeds to enter and experience the "real world," along with the young man.
