Parenthood is complicated at the best of times, but when you're a dad in the seventies who never really planned on having children, it really takes some work. At the age of seven, Merv Payne was determined to forge a friendship with his dad. After he took him to his first football match, a bond was created that would last the rest of their lives, which is just as well, because they had very little else in common. Merv's attempts to enhance this relationship through junior football had almost disastrous consequences, but their passion for football - and in particular Millwall - became the glue that held them together. What Merv really wanted however, was to share success at Millwall with his dad - something that was very thin on the ground in the early eighties. What they both wanted more than anything was to see their team in the First Division for the first time. Because My Dad Does is a nostalgic journey through the days of the terraces, following your team on teletext or the football special and sharing a once-in-a-lifetime, never-to-be-repeated football fan experience as father and son.
