Hugh and Harry is a novella about acceptance and friendship. It is a story about coming to terms with unhealed wounds. Hugh a bachelor in his mid twenties leaves Scotland New Year's Eve 1929 and arrives in Canada practically penniless having lost most of his money playing cards crossing over. His Scottish brogue captures the attention of Jim also a Scotsman who overhears Hugh inquiring about lodging and offers him a room until he gets on his feet. Harry leaves England shortly after serving the last two years of WWI with his wife Jessie and their two children. He settles in Ottawa and begins a roofing business. What follows is a lifetime of friendship and the sharing of many struggles.
