School Counselors with and Without Teaching Experience: a Comprehensive Overview and Comparative Analysis

Historically, school counselors were drawn from the teaching profession. However, today the majority of states no longer require classroom teaching experience for a school counselor certification. With this shift in certification requirements for school counselors, recent empirically based studies addressing this issue are limited.
