Eco-friendly Refrigerants in Domestic Refrigerators: Computer Simulation and Analysis of an Evaporator in Domestic Refrigerator with Hfc134a and Hc290 Mixtures
Muthuraman S
A numerical model is developed to simulate the steady state behaviour of a Domestic Refrigerator Evaporator controlled by a expansion valve. The liquid-vapour slip in the two-phase region of the evaporator is accounted for by a void fraction model. The Refrigerator is one of the most important and the biggest energy-consuming device. The selected Refrigerant mixtures are tested as potential short and mid-term substitutes for CFC12, HFC134a with some hydrocarbons (HC290) are considered as components of refrigerant mixtures but mineral oil is used for the analysis. HFC134a with HC 290 are used as the working fluid and without frost formation at the evaporator.
