Estimating Couples' Response to Price Changes in Contraceptives: Evidence from Ethiopia
Surafel Melak
The monograph has tried to verify the debating issue over the pricing of contraceptives. Some argue that imposition of prices deter contraceptive consumption in the third world and hence be supplied free of charge while others argue that pricing of contraceptives helps to expand the low level family planning service of Ethiopia by generating revenue and improving the quality of the service. The finding revealed that contraceptive demand is not sensitive to price changes as consumers worry more about the sustenance and quality of the commodity. The finding thus deviates the traditional law of demand. Therefore, the book is believed to have significance importance to academicians, researchers, development organisations, contraceptive suppliers and marketers
