This study was conducted in rainy season of 2010 to assess the impacts of nursery management factors viz., seeding density, seedling age and nitrogen top dressing in the nursery on the growth and yield of rainfed lowland rice. Lamjung, a district in the mid-hills of Nepal representing a rainfed scenario was the research site. The study was concerned to reveal its findings to the local rice growing farmers and improving their practices of rice nursery management that has a great deal of impact on the performance of rice after being transplanted in the main field. Moreover, the study was conducted to identify the low cost technologies for improving rice productivity not only in the rainfed but also the irrigated conditions. The findings of the study illustrated in the publication is seen to be helpful in the field conditions as well.
