Evaluating Mnp Catalyzed Dye Decolourizing Potential of Fungi: Study of Dye Biodegradation

Due to rapid industrialization, urbanization and other developments, there is a constant threat to clean environment and to the depleting natural resources. A wide variety of dyes are used by textile industries, which after processing, released into the environment. These dyes are highly stable and resistance to microbial degradation. These xenobiotics compounds are of human concern, due to their toxicity and environmental persistent. In the present study, commercially available dyes employed for such dyeing and printing of cotton fabrics have been used to study biodegradation by the enzyme system of Phanerochaete chrysosporium.
