Seed Zinc Treatment: a Novel Technique: Ameliorative Measures of Zinc Deficiency in Plants

Vigorous crop production requires adequate nutrient availability in to the soil. Low availability of Zn in calcareous soils is one of the widest ranging abiotic stresses in the world agriculture. During recent years, Zn deficiency has been recognized as a major risk factor to the global and regional burden of disease along with Fe, vitamin A and iodine deficiency. Correction of zinc deficiency in crops can be carried out using either organic or inorganic compounds of Zn as fertilizers. The information here is intended to provide a novel technique to improve seedling establishment and to enhance the crop production in areas having zinc deficient soil.
