Handicraft is a type of work where useful and decorative devices are made completely by hand or using only simple tools. Usually the term is applied to traditional means of making goods. This book constitutes a study in the economic characteristics of a particular disadvantaged group of a backward economy and the problems of development arise out of these characteristics. Both the endogenous and exogenous factors are determining economic conditions of handicrafts workers. In fact throughout the present work our efforts have been to examine the gender dimension of the problems of earning a living in a handicraft workers society.
