Indian cities today are experiencing rapid changes in terms of area, population, economic activities and land use pattern. Many towns or cities have come up in the National Capital Region. Gurgaon is becoming a fast growing city in NCR. So it is essential to examine the basic features of this fast growing urban center so as to plan their future development. The first chapter of the study deals with general introduction, basic concept of town, statement of problem, database and methodology as well as includes a chronological review of literature on urban studied related to present study. The second chapter is devoted to a study of the location, situation and site of the town. It includes climatic condition and cultural setting and evolution of townscape through the historical period. The third chapter deals with the various demographic characteristics of the city, namely, distribution, density, sex ratio, literacy, schedule caste, occupation structure and proportion of active population. The fourth chapter deals with land use of the city spatial pattern and temporal change. It also includes the morphology of the city including its street pattern.
