Studies on marital violence in Korean commumity are only a few. However, these studies indicate that marital violence is more prevalent among the Korean immigrant population in comparison to other ethnic groups in the United States. This study examines cultural and social factors, which differ from those of Western cultures to explore how these influence the perceptions of and attitudes toward domestic violence and their relationships to the physical and psychological incidence of domestic violence among first-generation Korean Americans.
