Efficiency Study of Swiss Airports Management: Empirical Approach Based on Data Envelopment Analysis
Annageldy Arazmuradov
Under the close supervision of experienced expert in transportation research Gianmaria Martini, Professor of Economics and Industrial Organization , University of Bergamo, Italy this work is the contribution to understand the factors influencing the productivity and efficiency of Swiss airport management that could assist in better utilization of airport resources. Nowadays, most Swiss airports are still publicly owned units with only few completely private ones. The goal of this study is to shed light on such terms as efficiency and performance that are directly pertinent to airports nowadays. Although there are different types of the productivity measurement tools the author have chosen Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) methodology, applied to measure airports performance by many researchers around the world. To the best of my knowledge, this is the first attempt to study the efficiency of Swiss airports by applying the DEA method as of May,2008.
