This book draws on the component of a two-phase study (2007 and 2008) that examined the linkages between community participation in decision making when it comes to the access to basic services such as electricity supply and its pricing mechanism, impact towards poverty reduction in the previously disadvantaged communities within eThekwini Municipality. It also attempt to reveal inequality between the previously disadvantaged majority and inheritors of spoils of apartheid in the highly celebrated democratic era. This book attempts to reveal the challenges faced by the vulnerable communities in access to energy in post apartheid era by looking at some of the surroundings area of eThekwini Municipality. Lastly, it also looks at the manner in which government through its institution in meeting challenges faced by the marginalised community.
