NEARLY 90 PERCENT of all information technology projects fail to achieve objectives within the budget and schedule. Can this dismal performance be improved? It occurs to us that perhaps one reason so many software projects fail is because project managers might be trying to solve the wrong problem. Too often projects disappoint people because the project manager was too busy working on activities without making sure the project met the requirements the "customer" wanted. Using proper project management techniques to control a project is the key to a satisfied product. It may seem like an additional burden, but it saves time and money in long time. The effort have would be to develop an easy to use free license product with enough features so it can be used for not so complex projects.
