Exploring E-learning Implementation Models: and the Changing Conceptions of Technology

An emergence of technology to enhance teaching and learning in higher education has increasingly called for an interest from academic institutions, and subsequently brings the potential of change in education. A new style of teaching and learning has been introduced with a still evolving nomenclature for terms such as tele-learning, online learning, web-based learning, and e-learning. Along with the wave of technology, its importance has influenced the national policy of many countries, and then become an international issue. It appears that the national education plans of many countries have included this in and highlighted it as a major focus by allocating budgets to the development of technical infrastructure to facilitate this new form of learning. The beginning of the concept of open and distance learning, followed by tele-learning, and lastly e-learning is the stream of this study. Bringing innovation to organisations, however, is not an easy process. The study here highlights this point. Results from many studies indicated that a lack of good preparation could result in less success, or at worst failure, for the organisation.
