Identification of an unknown body and prediction of growth from specific body measurements are very important task in the field of Forensic Anthropology. Forensic Anthropology is a field of science whose major focus is identification of more or less skeletanoized remains either human or non-human in a legal context. It is the application of knowledge of Physical Anthropology to establish the age, sex, race or ancestry, stature, manner of death of modern skeletal remains in the medico-legal context. Stature provides an important aspect of an individual?s physiognomy and a piece of information that may be aid in individual identification. In situation, where the corpse is severely mutilated, decomposed or represented by skeletal remains only, the stature of the individual may be estimated by means of measurement of the skeleton. In a country like India, where due to the cultural practices pertaining to disposal of dead bodies, the skeletal remains are rather scanty and thus only a few ethnic groups have been studied. Present study is conducted on Brahmins of U. P to estimate stature by measuring bone length percutaneously.
