Diabetes is one of the most common endocrine diseases that due to the variability of diagnostic standards, it is difficult to determine its true extent. The number of people with diabetes in the United States is 16 million, and one in 20 people has diabetes mellitus. Diabetes is a serious disease caused by a lack of insulin in the body and leads to circulatory disorders. 5-6% of Americans have diabetes. Causes and development of ulcers in diabetic patients are either neuropathic complications (neurological disorders) or ischemic (circulatory disorders). In diabetic patients, ischemia and infection are among the most serious problems that may even put a diabetic at risk.
