Among the written sources of Russian culture, the leading place belongs to the chronicles. The chronicle - a genre of historical work in which the narration is conducted on years (years), in chronological order. However, chronicles are not only records of what happened in the annual order, but also a collection of those sources of mass information which the chronicler had at that time, and with which it is possible to agree, or even argue. Chronicle emerged in Ancient Russia and is now revived by enthusiasts as a consequence of developing national consciousness and the need for historical self-determination of all peoples of the country. But the chronicle is not just a list of historical facts. It embodied a wide range of ideas and concepts of modern society. Therefore, the chronicle can be considered as a generalized monument of Russian culture. The Chronicle is the basis of the history of the state, its ideology, comprehension of understanding the place of the state in the world history; it is one of the most important monuments of both writing and literature, history and culture in general.
