Bioethanol Production

Biofuels are inevitably needed in the present day scenario. We have isolated 9 marine halophilic bacteria from the Gulf of Khambhat. Among, 4 were screened as potent cellulase producers. Further, screening shown that Pal-3 was most potent ethanol producer as compared to others. We have used corn cob for bioethanol fermentation by Pal-3. The data exhibited some interesting trends highlighting conventional yeast based approach. This data were also compared with the consolidated bioprocessing approach . Our trend revealed that the Pal-3 could ferment ethanol more efficiently from cellulose waste as compared to consolidated bioprocessing approach. This point out commercial applicability of the strain and process.
