The present work aims to analyze the etiology, pathophysiology, typologies and treatments of acne. It begins with the origin of the disease, pointing out its causes, followed by definitions from different theories. Then, the physiopathologies of acne, the elementary types of lesions, and their general classification are described. Finally, a detailed analysis of the different types of treatments used to treat acne, according to its etiology and diagnosis, such as: hormonal, topical, phototherapeutic and systemic. The results show that, in order to classify acne, it is necessary to consider age, sex, degree, inflammation level, types of lesions present, symptomatology, physiopathology, among other things. It is concluded that, nowadays there is a compendium of multiple therapeutic possibilities to treat acne, and that, in order to reach the adequate treatment, specific aspects and situations must be observed in each patient such as the clinical type of acne, its intensity and severity, skin phototype, and its degree of collaboration.
