Turmeric is a member of Curcuma longa, relating to the ginger family Zingiberaceae. Curcumin (C21H20O6), one of the curcuminoid constituents which derived from Curcuma longa, has been extensively used in food industries and health sectors as well. Curcumin (C21H20O6), which is also known as Curcumin I is present in nature as rhizome of Curcuma longa, which is commercially grown and marketed as turmeric, a yellow dye. Curcumin (C21H20O6) is also reported as best antioxidant. Research suggests that curcumin can help in the management of oxidative and inflammatory conditions, metabolic syndrome, arthritis, anxiety, and hyperlipidemia.
