Based on first-hand documents, the volume reconstructs the brief history of the shows hosted in the villa outside the town of Pratolino, near Florence, during the reign of the Grand Prince Ferdinando de' Medici. On the stage of that theater, erected in 1688 and active only for a few years, a fertile artistic mix was celebrated in which the protagonists of the court were called to collaborate and compete with some of the most renowned artists on the national scene.
