Katib is a shoeshine boy who loses his shoeshine box, the only tool of his livelihood, in the old city, Lahore. On his quest to find it, he befriends a strange 9-year-old Pathan bottle collector, Gul Khan, who promises to help him on a condition Katib can't refuse. As they journey along to find the shoeshine box, Katib learns about Gul Khan's unprecedented life and his bizarre fixation with Madhuri Dixit, an obsession that turns out to be more than just infatuation.
