The Brotherhood of Assassins has not given up on making Jonas' life miserable as revenge for killing their leader, Vukka Boudreau. After being knighted by Queen Gwendella, Jonas' life is going according to plan. That is, until he receives tragic news. Young Katya has been slain and Princess Constance wounded, both acts of the Brotherhood.

To enact his revenge, Jonas seeks out the Brotherhood in Plantaine, where he finds himself as the target of a different secret order, the Sacred Skull.

And when Jonas experiences another great loss, he exiles himself to save those about him until he can find out who this Sacred Skull is. He secretly leaves towards the east, not knowing where he'll go or when he'll return.
