Martin McCoy treated everyone he encountered in his life with respect. Over the years he realized that the times around him were changing taking with it the destruction of a way of life. As a boy he became friends with a young Comanche warrior named Atsadi. Their paths split because he lived in the white world while Atsadi lived in the world of the Comanche. Their paths would cross many times throughout the turbulent years while the Comanche dominated the Great Plains. They met in times of war and during the tentative treaties of peace. They always treated each other with respect and remained friends. Atsadi roamed the Plains as a warrior, killing, burning and looting to help his people survive. Martin McCoy became a Sheriff in the small town of Shallow. Atsadi and Martin were bound to clash in war. Could their friendship continue in a time where everything was going against it? Would they die in a war neither wanted? Most importantly, would they be forced to kill each other. This story is not only of Martin McCoy's, but of Atsadi and the people of the Comanche tribes. It shadows the sad decline of a proud people who once roamed the Great Plains.
