They are gifts given to God's children in order to hasten the transformational work of the Holy Spirit to fit us for the presence of God. No more hiding in the trees like we once did in the garden. If we are clothed in the righteousness of Christ then we are able to utilize prayer, worship, and the Word as pathways to greater intimacy with God instead of wearing them like yokes of slavery.
