Addison Stone, a nineteen-year-old ecology student, would never believe in fairy tales. A practical and understated beauty, Addison is focused on doing well in school and moving on with her life, after her former boyfriend has left her heart-broken and humiliated. Meanwhile, unexplained occurrences keep happening to Addison when she is outdoors in her backyard wilderness. She continues to ignore these strange sightings, until one night, she is pulled through a portal between her world and another realm. Addison finds herself trapped in an enchanted, old Bavarian world, called the Deutschire, where creatures from legends are real. A once tranquil and beautifully majestic land has now turned dark after a promise of a betrothal has been broken by the same young man who has fallen in love with her. While coming to terms with her new reality, Addison must also learn to accept that she may never return home, after learning the portal has been destroyed.
