Something Better Than Nothing

Nobody at school particularly likes Ramona Taylor, and there are a multitude of reasons as to why this is. She's smart and wants everyone to know it, she's one of a kind and wants everyone to know it, she doesn't stoop to the level of other kids her age and wants everyone to know it. Darwin Hastings never really knew what to think about Ramona until she disappeared. She was just the mildly annoying girl everyone ignored, just like they ignored him. Once she vanished, however, all eyes were finally on her, just like she always wanted. Everyone suddenly had a story to tell about how much they loved Ramona and how they knew where she was... everyone except those who were closest to her.
