LEE, a happy-go-lucky guy, is exhilarated to join his brainy fiancée, TESSI, as a helper in a project on an alien planet. But SISHEN, the project leader and son of the Supreme Commander, has another goal. He wants Tessi all to himself. So he sabotages the project and ends up having all others in the team killed. But a playful act of Lee on Tessi upsets his scheme. Lee lives and Tessi dies instead. Before she dies, Tessi describes to Lee a process that can make her live again. A long and tedious process that will plunge him into a fate worse than death. Undaunted, Lee promises to do it, no matter how long it would take. Nothing can be worse than a life without his beloved. Then Sishen flees to return to his father. But only after he has destroyed all resources that would keep Lee alive, leaving a devastated Lee marooned on the desolated planet.
